Obituary

Robin Everitt, Vice President of the Abyssinian Cat Association for the last eleven years, died in hospital, after a short illness, on Saturday 31st May 2008. He had been involved with Abyssinians for over 30 years. His wife Joy, a founder member of the Association, bred Abys under her Joyous prefix. It was after Joy’s death that he became Vice President maintaining his connections with and interest in the breed.

Robin thoroughly enjoyed cat meetings and shows and really loved his Abys, he was never heard to criticise a cat, but occasionally one would be singled out for special praise.

Even when he was no longer allowed to drive he still came to shows and meetings either persuading a friend to drive him or taking a train, nothing was ever too much trouble for him.

Robin’s last Abyssinian, Joyous Epiphany, died at nineteen and a half and following Joy’s death slept with Robin until the day she died.

Robin’s booming voice, great sense of humour and appreciation of all that was done for him, and most of all his love of Abyssinians, are a great loss to us all.

Robin’s funeral will take place at St Alphege Church, Solihull at 1.30 pm on Wednesday, 9th July. This service will be a Requiem Eucharist. It will be followed by interment at Widney Manor Cemetery, Widney Manor Road, Bentley Heath B93 9AA.

After the interment there will be a reception in the Courtyard Suite in the Ramada Hotel (known locally as The George), to which all are invited. The room will be available from 2.30 pm onwards, so anyone who does not wish to attend the burial can go straight to the hotel. The Ramada is across the road from St Alphege Church.

It was Robin’s wish that there should not be any flowers, but that instead, donations be sent to the Tyndale Society, c/of Thomas Bragg & Sons Limited, 562 Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, West Midlands B90 4AY.

If you wish to attend please contact the Hon. Secretary, Margaret Howe, e-mail m.howe299@btinternet.com who will forward full details to you.
